Today I bring you a wonderful tea recipe that is a favorite here in our little farmhouse: red raspberry leaf herbal tea. In fact, it’s Beauty #3’s must-have, year-round drink. She loves it so much that she talks about it, shares it, and recommends it to all who will listen.

Beauty #3 is part of a small ladies’ group of crocheters and knitters that meet weekly at our church. She is the youngest member, but I always say my Beauty #3 is an old soul. This gathering is the highlight of her week for sure, and makes every attempt to faithfully attend. One of the ladies in the group was very intrigued by this tea Beauty #3 spoke of and has asked for the recipe. A perfect opportunity to share it with all of you!

Red Raspberry Leaf Herbal Tea Benefits

I use this herbal tea to help relieve migraines or headaches, especially around the time of my monthly cycle. But it’s also a great tea to have often because it promotes a wide variety of health benefits.

Red raspberry leaves pack a bunch of vitamins and minerals that support female health! Magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, and vitamins B, A, C, and E. I especially love the magnesium and Vit B for their amazing ability to wash away those awful cramps, hallelujah!

Other herbs and benefits in this tea

Oat straw, stinging nettle, and alfalfa are the other herbs in this tea that bring their own powerhouse of nutrition to the cup.

Oat straw is also rich in vitamins A and B complex and calcium. Besides reducing stress, oat straw is a wonderful calcium supplement. Because oat straw is rich in silica, iron, zinc, magnesium and vitamin B-12, it provides amazing support for strong hair, nails and bones. Source

Oat straw and nettle together have a role in the healing and health of bone structure. Yay!

I like to buy herbs in bulk to save lots of moola. Ideally, I dream of growing lots of herbs to harvest myself. It’s on my list. My very. Long. List. Uh-hem.

However, I do have a few humble raspberry plants, and will try to harvest the leaves. Oh the joys of continually learning!

Here’s a list of the ingredients I use for this recipe with links to where you can purchase them if you don’t have a co-op, like Azure, that you use.

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea Recipe

  • 8 parts red raspberry leaf
  • 3 parts alfalfa
  • 3 parts oat straw

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine all the loose leaf herbs well. Store in a glass container.

To brew a cup of tea, add 1 heaping tsp up to 1 TBS of tea to a tea strainer device. Poor boiling water over the tea and steep for a few minutes.

To brew a gallon, I add 1/2 cup of the tea mixture to a quart mason jar, add boiling water to cover, and steep for 6 hours or overnight. After steeping, strain off herbs into a gallon glass jar and fill to the top with water. Store in fridge until ready to enjoy a cup.
