Farmhouse Winter Salad
The best green salad for Christmas and holiday entertaining. A simple salad made special with spiced pecans, pomegranates, and feta — all the colors of the season!
With all the hustle and bustle that can come with the Christmas season, I make a point to slow down and live each moment on purpose. I don’t want to get caught up in any of the commercial hype or expectations. This farmhouse winter salad fits the bill with simple, seasonal ingredients that create a Christmas-inspired theme.
In fact, we purposely make a point to do as much family time as possible.
We love to have movie nights, watching all the favorites and classics of the Christmas season.
Hunting and harvesting the perfect tree.
Making hot cocoa and decorating the house and tree the Friday after Thanksgiving. Yep, I’m one of those who waits until after Thanksgiving before we start to celebrate Christmas. From the Friday after turkey day until Jan. 1, we are Christmas go-time!
Simple Food is Simply Enjoyable
I’m a firm believer that the more natural the food is kept, the more beautiful it is.
God has created such beauty all around us, and food is certainly among the glory of it all!
When I meal plan for a special dinner, like Christmas, I find that food is so simple and beautiful when kept to the season and adding a little imagination that the Good Lord gifted and intended for us.
That’s how this farmhouse winter salad was born. I thought about the colors of the season, and the food that is in season, and went from there.
Let this inspire you to create another salad with your family’s favorites of the season! Seared pears? Walnuts or hazelnuts? Pumpkin seeds? Cranberries? You get the idea — now, go crazy!

Yum, this salad looks delicious! I have never added pomegranates to salad before. Next time I am at the store I am going to pick some up and try them. Pinned it for later!
