All-Natural, Roll-On Deodorant

An all-natural, roll-on deodorant that’s toxic-free, doesn’t cause staining, easy DIY, and actually works? SOLD! I share with you how I make my own natural roll-on deodorant with just two ingredients.

One thing that I am UBER careful with is what products I bring into my home for personal care use, as well as for cleaning. Did you know that our skin is the largest organ? Naturally, we want to keep toxic products off of our skin, so we don’t absorb any harmful, cancer-causing ingredients.

Aluminum is definitely on that list! So I switched to deodorant, vs. antiperspirant, years ago. With my DIY tendencies and budget, frugal-seeking ways, I quickly learned that making my own natural deodorant sticks was way cheaper. However, after some time of use, I noticed that my coconut oil-based deodorants were staining my shirts. Uhm, no thank you.

Enter the liquid, roll-on variety. One day I was perusing Pinterest (oh, how I just love me some Pinterest!) and stumbled across a deodorant that uses a liquid mineral salt along with some essential oils to combat body odor. The first time I made this, I was super excited about how easy and FAST this product was to make!

Before, it was a whole process: measure, weigh, melt, pour, blah blah blah. In other words, precious time. Time that I could’ve spent baking a chocolate fudge pie. Or rosemary olive bread. Ya know … the important things of life. 😉

Anyway, two ingredients. People! Two ingredients that you just pour into a glass roll-on bottle, shake, and go. Life changing! Can I get an AMEN? Hallelujah!

• Milk of Magnesia (I use this brand because it only has two ingredients: magnesium hydroxide and water; I also order in bulk because: family of 5)
• Essential oils of choice
• Glass roller bottles – important if using essential oils.

I love my glass roller bottles because it’s so easy. But if you don’t plan to use essential oils for whatever reason, you can simply apply the milk of magnesia with your fingers (I have not personally tried this without the added EOs). *Side note: essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts, which can degrade and break down plastic. Thus starting a cycle of again exposing your skin to unwanted toxins.

• Take your glass roller bottle and fill with milk of magnesia to neck of bottle
• Drop essential oils of choice in the bottle, place the roller lid and push down to secure, and shake well to distribute evenly

OAF’s family essential oil blends we use for all-natural roll-on deodorant

For a 1 oz. container, use 4-6 drops of essential oil. Adjust accordingly when using your own blends or making multiple batches.

Amyable Blend

• 3 drops Lavender
• 3 drops Bergamot
• (what I currently use) 4 drops “Mrs.” blend from Revive

Man Cub’s Out in the Woods Blend

• 3 drops Cedarwood
• 3 drops Rosemary

Fruity Fresh and Girlie

• 2 drops Lemongrass
• 2 drops of Tangerine or Orange
• and 2 drops Lime
